But… are there any rules?
Yep, and quite a few! You can’t just fly a drone anywhere. A videographer needs the right certifications and has to follow strict regulations about where they can and can’t fly—especially near busy areas or airports. So before you book, make sure your venue allows drone use! I have my certificates:
What to ask when hiring a wedding videographer?
- Do they have drone experience? Not all videographers offer this service.
- Check their portfolio – Make sure you love their style and their drone work. Apart from my wedding drone videography, this is a drone video from The Netherlands I made years ago. That shot where I fly with the geese in the air is still one of my all-time favourite. What do you think about it?
- Ask about your venue – Some locations don’t allow drones, so double-check in advance.
- Look for package deals – Some videographers offer discounted bundles with both traditional and drone footage.
